Autism Speaks Encourages Early Diagnosis
The head of operations for the Goldbergs Group, the oldest deli chain in Atlanta, Georgia, Stanley Fur seeks to expand across the nation. Alongside his restaurant leadership in Atlanta, Stanley Fur contributes to charitable organizations such as Autism Speaks.
Dedicated to providing advocacy and support services for those with autism spectrum disorders, Autism Speaks continues to head research for better treatments while also offering educational information and hosting events to raise awareness. In seeking to better educate the public, the organization hopes to encourage diagnosis of autism spectrum disorders at an earlier age to help prevent negative outcomes.
Those with an autism spectrum disorder often present signs of developmental delay. As early as six to nine months of age, babies may exhibit symptoms such as a lack of facial expressions and sounds. Those about a year old may not demonstrate typical gestures such as waving and pointing. By two years of age, they may not speak or be able to communicate with self-generated phrases even of two words. Parents or caregivers who see any of these symptoms in a child, or notice a sudden loss of social skills or speech at any age, may want to consider taking the child to a doctor for diagnosis.

3 Great Ideas to Add to Your Daily Journal
Mindfulness, self-awareness, and self-reflection are immensely important practices towards experiencing the best life you can, so discovering new methods that can help you maintain these habits can be important. Stanley Fur, father of three, has seen the progress his youngest daughter has made since keeping a personal journal and writing in it consistently; but with the continuous use of the same thing overtime, it can be hard to stay motivated and driven towards keeping up with journaling. So, here are three wonderful ideas that can be incorporated into your typical journal, making self-reflection fun again.
An important part of self-care and mindfulness comes with self-awareness, as keeping track of your daily habits, moods, and feelings can allow us to get to the root of certain issues and find methods towards improving those rougher areas. This is where creating a mood chart comes in, as keeping up with each mood shift you experience can allow you to really dig deep inside your own emotions.
“My daughter created her mood chart on her own, so no one really needs to search far and wide for a specific template,” Stanley Fur says. “She originally assigned each specific mood to a certain color, and as each night comes to a closing, she fills in little blocks with the color and mood of choice. She admits that it helps her truly reflect on the things that make her happy or sad, frustrated or excited; it seems to be a wonderful method towards achieving mindfulness!”
Adding mood trackers to your personal journal can be completely customizable, as you can use any type of pattern, design, and colors that compliment your taste and overall liking. Seeing your emotions right there in front of you can be of big help when trying to track your daily moods, so try incorporating a mood chart into your diary, and become one step closer to self-awareness!
Similar to the results that come with using mood charts, having a gratitude-themed section in your journal can help you discover what it is that leads to your happiness and excitement.
“Every night, my daughter writes down three things she was thankful for that day, whether it was a specific person or something random that occured out of the blue,” Stanley Fur states. “Her list has become extremely long overtime, and it brings her comfort knowing how lucky she is to have so much to be thankful for.”
Adding a gratitude section to your journal can be especially helpful for those feeling down or in a rut; instead of dwelling on the negative, we can simply focus on all that positive and smile-inducing. This can allow us to incorporate more of what makes us feel fantastic, and it can also lead towards us giving back to those we are so very grateful for.
Having a to-do list isn't a brand new concept in today’s society, but tweaking your own typical task list can help you become a lot more self-aware in the long run.
“My daughter writes down everything she has to get done for the week,” says Stanley Fur. “When the next week arrives, she reviews those tasks that haven’t been completed yet and takes into consideration if those certain tasks are still worth her time and effort. Once understanding that it’s necessary to dwell on and stress about one task, it’s completely crossed out, making it a worry of the past.”
These types of to-do lists can really help with overall organization, allowing you to properly prioritize certain events within your life. If you tend to stress over the little things, try out this type of journaling method, and discover what’s truly important to you.
Journaling is a great habit to keep up with on the daily, but adding new, beneficial concepts to your daily recordings can aid in changing certain aspects of your life for the better. Stanley Fur agrees that mindfulness is substantial towards happiness, so take these ideas, and try adding them into your own journal for further, deeper self-reflection.

The Best 3 Alexa Skills to Add to Your Device
The Amazon Alexa device has rapidly grown in popularity over time,
as its skill updates and collections continue to advance. Stanley Fur, father
of three, agrees that, for those looking to have some fun with Alexa, finding
certain skills that are actually entertaining can be tough. Still, there are
some special ones that will leave you and your family having a great time with
Alexa!
“Yes, Sire” is an adventure game that immerses its player in a
customizable role-playing journey. When beginning gameplay, you discover that
the king has appointed you “lord of these lands,” meaning you must help
maintain balance throughout kingdom and decide the fates of many, including
yourself. By answering “yes” or “no” to each choice given, the levels of your
wealth and popularity either increase or decrease, so getting the right balance
can be quite challenging.
“It’s an incredibly addictive game,” Stanley Fur states. “I always
want to beat my previous high score, which causes me to play over and over
again until I do!”
One of the most popular skills on the Alexa app, “Yes, Sire” will
have you feeling like a king and give you never-ending entertainment and fun!
“Find My iPhone” is an incredibly useful Alexa skill, and although
it’s not exactly a game, you’ll be happy that you downloaded it in the long
run.
“I can’t even count how many times I’ve misplaced my phone in my
own house,” Stanley Fur says. “This skill is a godsent for those with a faulty
memory!”
All you have to do is ask Alexa where your phone is, and she will
call, allowing you to listen out for the ring or vibration. It’s a simple
skill, but one that can come in extremely handy when home alone and no other
device to aid you in your search!
Another popular skill, “Zen Sounds: Healing Sounds,” will immerse
you in a peaceful, calming journey of relaxation with just a soundtrack. With
its simple goal being to help you feel at ease with the most calming of sounds
and music, this skill turns Alexa into your best friend when you need to
unwind.
“My daughters absolutely love this skill,” says Stanley Fur.
“Stressful situations throughout the day can take a toll on anyone, and
allowing yourself to truly relax with this peaceful soundtrack can be a miracle
addition to your own daily routine.”
Like the other skills listed, this one is free of charge and can
truly aid in relaxing you. Alexa also offers other types of sounds and music,
those that cater to different genres and likes, so go find your favorite today,
and learn to relax a little!
Overall, Alexa has become an amazing, incredibly useful device for
those of all ages, and she continues to grow and advance before our eyes.
Stanley Fur agrees that certain skills can really blow you away and leave you
having fun or relaxed whenever needed, so start hunting for the skills that are
right for you!
